Duct-Based Drainage for Wet Basements

A duct-based basement-waterproofing system protects basement from flooding via water seeping (leaking) in from window wells. The ducts provide is a drainage system that is carefully engineered by a waterproofing company. You may have noticed that a flooded window well can leak into a basement around the frame, letting water enter your basement, run down walls and often flooding the floor. A reputable and licensed basement waterproofer will clean out the window well on the outside and fill it with somehing like clean stone; then the waterproofer will install a grate. This lets the water drain out of the well and through a hole drilled through the wall to the inside, just under the window sill. The water runs down inside the duct-work track to the sump-pump which evacuates it out. The drain hole through the block wall is sleeved with a pipe to keep the water from going down into the wall.
