Environmental Studies Jobs in Education and Academics: Classroom Teaching and Beyond
If you’re interested in teaching, subject matter relating to the environment is taught at the middle school, high school, and college levels. Few middle and high school systems will offer an environmental studies course in their curriculum, but many will require that environmental issues be addressed in the curriculum as a part of another course. Colleges and universities offer a variety of majors that focus on environmental issues, and those people who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. can fill their days teaching courses directly related to the environment.
Environmental education is not restricted, however, to teaching in the traditional classroom setting. In this section we also discuss the nontraditional delivery of information in settings outside the classroom—such as parks, museums, camps, outdoor leadership schools, science centers, nature parks, and zoos—and with employers such as Trout Unlimited, the National Wild life Federation, the National Park Service, the United States Forest Service, or the World Wildlife Fund.
