Binoculars

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Binoculars magnify the image of a distant object so that it looks much closer than it actually is. Binoculars are used in a wide variety of activities, ranging from stargazing to watching sports. Defense forces and intelligence agencies use them to observe the enemy from a safe distance. There are certain binoculars which are […]

Discount Binoculars

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Binoculars can be very expensive, but quite often there are discounts offered. The discounts can bring down the price from 10 to 40 dollars. The extent of the discount depends on the price, category and type of binocular.
Sometimes old stock has to be replaced and the sellers offer old stock at cheap prices. Then […]

Best Binoculars

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

There is no single criterion for determining the best binoculars. The binoculars which work for a birdwatcher won’t be good enough for a soldier. View from Temescal State Park

Friday, May 19th, 2006

Here’s a dusk-time, south-facing view of the “South Bay” (aka Santa Monica bay) from about 1,000 feet up in Temescal State Park (part of Topanga State Park). The images above were taken 2005-09-20. These spiders only come out for a few weeks in the early fall.
The images above remind me of a new BBC nature-series […]

Can someone help me label these flowers?

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

I added these floral images to this site recently, but I’m not sure what many of them are commonly called. The botanical garden I visited only labeled a few of their species. (The “missing” labels may very well have been hidden under leaves or bushes; I didn’t actively look for them).
To start off, this floral species […]

Trip to South Coast Garden Botanical Gardens, Palos Verdes, California

Monday, May 15th, 2006

About a week ago, I finally visited South Coast Botanical Gardens – about 14 miles south of my home in Gardena – and snapped a couple of shots. Many of the flowers are spring-blooming here in California, now. We had an especially “cold” winter — by So Cal standards — so “spring” really feels like a new […]
